MOre Healthy Tips
Connection
Many people feel isolated and alone. Ring a friend or text to arrange a meet-up.
Digestion
We can spend a lot of time focusing purely on diet and overlook digestion, but in order for our body to benefit from eating good food, we need to make sure our digestion is in good working order.
When our digestion is good, it means that the important nutrients from our food can be absorbed and assimilated and the rest eliminated efficiently.
Walking & Nature
Have a quick walk around the block if you don’t get out very often. Daily fresh air is important. Even five minutes will make a difference.
Breathe in the fresh air. The more time you spend outdoors the better. If you can, walk somewhere green and reconnect with nature.
Microbiome
The microbiome forms the crux of healthy living, so it makes sense that any health programme focuses on restoring this crucial function.
What is the microbiome? It comprises of microbes which inhabit our gut and skin as well as our oral and nasal cavities.
Home Environment
Home is the environment in which people spend most of their time. It is important that homes remain clean, tidy places.
This will reduce health hazards (arising from conditions such as damp and mould) and stress related issues (by providing private, relaxing spaces).
Practice Gratitude
Expressing gratitude has been linked to improved health.
Whilst this is not suitable for those suffering from serious mental illness, studies suggest that gratitude improves mental health (link) and physical health, including reduced inflammation (link).
Intermittent Fasting
Digestion uses more energy and resources than any other process in the body.
Intermittent fasting is a way of taking the pressure off the digestive system and allowing the body to use that energy for healing, regeneration and rebuilding.
